Pounder and Pounds
Pounder: Refers to a weapon as “pounder” according to the weight of the solid projectile fired from the tube. The correct term usage is "pounder” for the weapon and “pounds” for the shot.
A 3-pounder has a bore of 1.7 inches, a 6-pounder has a bore of 3.67 inches and a 12-pounder has a bore of 4.62 inches.
