Geneva Convention

Geneva Convention.
This is the "Geneva Cross", the flag of the Geneva Convention. Flown whenever a neutral enters a belligerent area, showing the bearer is not actively participating in hostile actions.
Not surprisingly, the Geneva Convention remained neutral during the war.
On August 22, 1864, thirteen nations signed the first Geneva Convention. This agreement formalized the treatment of wounded during wartime. A part of the document provided for the creation of a flag, a red cross on a field of white. Later, the International Committee of the Red Cross adopted this flag.
