France was invaded by Germany on August 2, 1914; Germany declared war with France on August 3, 1914.
France declared war with Austria-Hungary on August 10, 1914; with the Ottoman Empire on November 5, 1914; and with Bulgaria on October 16, 1915.
The Peace Treaty of Versailles was an agreement at the end of the war where
the British Empire, France, Italy, Japan and the United States formalized Germany’s consequences for the war. France ratified the agreement on October 13, 1919.
Territorial changes as a result of the war:
Germany ceded Alsace-Lorraine to France. The Ottoman Empire holdings in the Near East, Syria and Lebanon, were ceded to France.
