Republic of China
On the left is the "Five Races" flag of the Republic of China and on the right is the "White Sun" naval flag.
Early in the war British Empire and Japanese forces attacked and captured the German naval installations at Kiautschou and Tsingtau, China. Despite the battles fought on Chinese soil, the country remained neutral for most of the war.
China severed relations with Germany on March 14, 1917, and declared war with Germany and Austria-Hungary on August 13, 1917.
After declaring war against Germany and Austria-Hungary, China did not actively participate in the struggle.
